Trolling Motor Question

I currently have a 12v bow mounted trolling motor and im thinking about upgrading to a 24v.

I understand how to wire the batteries to make a 24v system.. But im wondering if ill need to run any additional wires for the new 24v plug ... Is it as simple as removing the old plug and installing the new plug? currently there is just a positive and negative wires comming off the back of the current plug.

I could be wrong( just mistaken) oh well. But you have to get a new plug both ends.Take out the old and in with the new. Enjoy the xtra power.

ok.. I think I was getting confused by reading 12/24 volt diagrams. So all I should need to do is hook up a "straight" 24 volt using the existing wiring and wil be good to go.. me thinks

You can use the same plug if you wire it for 24 volts. If you want the 12/24 performance, then you'll need a new 12/24 plug.
