X2 sled and hyfax change

blueroof

Question

I had to pick up a replacement hyfax set for my X2. THE SPACING IS NOT THE SAME LENGTH AND HAS DIFFERENT HOLE SPACING COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL SET I INSTALLED WHEN I FIRST GOT THE TRAP!!!! I still have the packaging from the original set, same part number and everything.

The hyfax clam sells is also only 3/8" thick, and I believe made out of softer material than other companies pre-made hyfax. I'm in the process of making a set up to use the holes that are already in my tub.

I got a bit more info from Clam about the x2 and the hyfax change problem I encountered. This years sleds for the x2 and x4 are a bit different than the first years. The newer sleds do not have recessed slots in the front of the sled bottom for the hyfax to be installed into. Then new hyfax is longer so more can be bent up the front to keep the lip of the hyfax from catching on the terrain.

Anyhow, I'm hoping that CLAM makes right on this and either makes two different hyfax sets in the future, or atleast hyfax without predrilled holes so first gen owners can have the choice as to whether to put additional holes in the sled or not.

I was lucky and found a holdover set of the first generation hyfax. The first generation x2 hyfax has a red "new" icon on the label, this years hyfax does not have this icon. Clam doesn't have any available, I ordered the last set from Thorne Brothers.
