Fish Trap Voyager

I think you could get away with using a Voyager on a clear lake but i think it might let in to much light for the darker lakes. Make sure you pack enough snow around the flip part of the house, that will help make it darker in the house and easier to see.

The other thing that i had a problem with when i was looking for a new spear house and look at this style of house was, where or how are you going to hook up a decoy so its somewhat center in your hole? The top rail? I’m not sure but I think you could rig something up.

Going out on cloudy days will also help you out. Make sure all the windows are closed and get ready. In all I think you could get away with using on. smile.gif

I spear out of my Voyager. It works great if you do a couple of things.

First you need to find some good thick waterproof carpet, I use an entrace mat like you see in a commercial building. Any commercial carpet supplier should have these. They work great and they don't absorb water.

Second I found a large piece of thick fleece and lined my house with it. I just tuck it over the supports. It keeps it plenty dark. I've speared cloudy water and had it plenty dark.

A couple of other things that help: Using a 1x6 about 24" with a 2" hole cut in the center and a pipe clamp work great to hold your decoy. Just thread the center support through the hole, tighten the pipe clamp around your roof support and you are ready to spear. This year I took a piece of plywood and traced my carpet, I think I'm going to put that down on the ice to give me some added height off the ice.

The voyager isn't the darkest house but if you do a few modifications it definitely is the most comfortable and spacious spearing house i've ever used. Good Luck
