Jiffy auger issues

I have a Jiffy power auger that is about 10 years old. The problem I am having with it is that the auger continues to spin when I am not holding the throttle in. As soon as I fire up the auger, it spins slowly and will not go up to full speed while drilling unless I hold my finger over then primer button. I am not sure if these issues are related, but both seem a little odd to me. Does anyone have any input or experience with the same thing?

Thanks~Dan

The great thing about Jiffy augers, they last forever. Your problem is simple. Your clutch springs are not retracting the clutch shoes, due to 10 years of use. This happened to my 18 year old auger. Jiffy sent two new springs and I fixed it mysself. I chatted with the sales manager, and he worked closely with me over the telephone.
