No different than fishing cats then?!?

No difference in tackle really.. but a huge differece in locations to fish them. The tackle is the same, but the bites are completely different. A sturgeon bite usually resembles a sunfish or sheephead bite. Its very hard to detect those bites on excessively heavy rods. I put 100's of sturgeon in my boat last year(with passengers).. I think the rod bent over 6 times... 2 times it was chnnel cats, 2 times it was eels, one time it was a flathead.. and one sturgeon actually bent it over.

Bite detection is 90% of sturgeon fishing once you have your boat sitting in a location with fish present.
