Channel Cats in Lakes

Recommended Posts

I have a few lakes nearby with channels in them, but have never fished for them. I was thinking of giving it a try - what structure do I want to look for?

Seems most info I find is for river fishing, how about lakes? The lake in particular I'm thinking of is a small reservoir, not a lot of structure - mainly a bowl-shaped lake with a couple of points and bars.

Where do I start?

hmmm...just like river fishing;

bottom or bobber

I like the slip bobber (sometimes slipped to within inches of bottom) because I can be a little more mobile about casting to a specific structure, sandy/muddy bottoms pockets between weeds, during daytime, pitch it right next to shade under trees/bushes or other structures like a log. Look for inlet creeks, bottom creek beds.
