Crappie Question

With the water temps in the low 60's, I have noticed that most of the crappies I have been catching are males. Do the females come into the shallows to feed after the males or are they gone already? It seems like in past years I caught more females when the water temps were lower, but I can't remember for sure.

as far as i know the male crappies come in first to create the spawning beds
