Would feeding salted in shell sunflower be OK for birds/wildlife?

Hey BLB,

You could bring them seeds down to the Mall for Men; lotsa seed spitters in these parts. wink.gif For the 4-legged critters, am sure there would be no problem. They're always looking for more salt. As far as the feathered friends, salt is sometimes one of those things to be careful with as it can be hard on their systems. That said however, and being a seed spitter, not a lot of salt gets inside the hull and into the seed, the part the birds are usually after. Some kinds of birds including blue jays do swallow some seeds whole shell and all. But, during the summer months when there is plenty of access to water, doubt it would cause a natural catastrophe.
