Help Wisconsin river for first time Minnesota guys

Me and my brother would like to try the Wisconsin river in the next few weeks. Never been there and all we know is what we have seen on some fishing show's. Is this a good time of year? Where can you put a boat in (17 foot) public launch? resort? And are eyes open year round? Not looking for your hot spot just a little info on where we could start. Thanks much.

What part of the state are you looking at? There are a few spots around Wausau where you can launch. Ice is out enough to get around, just have to watch for iceburgs. And the water is still pretty cold, so the fish haven't picked up a ton, yet.
