Deer hunting is over-rated when you have northerners in the area!

Well boys just thought I would let you know that there are more ducks than I have ever seen before in the Int'l Falls area!! My uncle said that he has not seen ducks like this since the early eighties!!! Saturday morning there were so many ringies and scaup in the air that someone could only stare at the sky. I also have seen quite a few pinnies and cans. Of course there are lots of red heads around, but the big surprise is the amount of mallards in the area. huge flocks on northerners are everywhere!!! It is too easy to pick out drakes now. My buddies uncle is also impressed with the amount of honkers around on lake of the woods, though most are just staying for a short time. It they stick around just a little longer, I will have a chance to hook up on some november goose hunting!!! With ample rice and warm temps they are still holding in the falls area, but with colder temps during this middle of this week I don't know...

Now the hard desicion...To go out to the shack right away friday, or to put the boat in again and do some hardcore late season waterfowling. I think that duck hunting sounds like a really, really good idea!!!

Sweet! Keep up the great reports TL. I wanna know the SECOND those birds bug out of there, 'cause I'll be headed out here when they do! If those birds fly basically straight south, we should cross paths.

Hunting has been awesome this year, and it sounds like it's only going to get better! I would have never guessed a year ago that there would be this many birds around this year.

I fully agree basscatcher! There is still alot of birds around and I will be able to give you a full report on the birds in the I falls area on saturday or sunday. Wish me luck!
