TNFL
What can I use to prevent this next year or kill it without harming the perrenials?
LwnmwnMan2
A product like Round-Up, just don't spray it on the bushes / shrubs / flowers / trees or grass. If it's too close, then pull it out by hand.Next year spread Preen, Treflan or a product such as these every 4-6 weeks in your planting areas to keep weed growth to a minimum. Preen will be available at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, those sort of places. You'll want to get it down soon, maybe. You're not far from me, and our ground temps are still at 40 or below, so it'll be a little while before the CB germinates any time soon. They're talking 2-4" of snow Tuesday, then another cold weather pattern for this weekend, so ????????Anyways, yes, it'll work both in the mulch and in the rocks. Now, if you have "grass" grass, regular grass that's coming up through the mulch and or rocks, Preen or comparable products will NOT work on that. That turf is already established and will have to be knocked back with a glyphosate based product, or pulled by hand.
