I was fishing on the Mississippi by Sauk Rapids new bridge construction for smallies and walked within 10 feet of a muskie that I estimate was between 40-50 inches long. since I only had my ultralight and some buzzbaits I tried casually to get his attention. He seemed more interested in the 3 carp that were 5-8 pounds. He got one after following it for about 20 yards or so and seemed like he went into a circle-type death roll when he caught the carp? After seeing this I would like to spend more time trying to fish for something other than smallies now that I know there are some "really big fish" out there. What kind of equipment would be recommended as adding to my fishing arsenal for a newbie to muskie...thanks for any help.
