Where do trouts go during the day?

I was just carious where trout’s go during the day, specifically in one of the smaller trout streams in SE MN such as white water.

It just seems by 9 or 10pm they just disappear, which makes locating fish difficult. Any info would be most appreciated.

Undercut banks or whatever overhead cover they can find will be a popular destination for the fishies. Deep pools where visibilities are low. Even with polarized glasses they can be tough to see in pools, and in riffles it can be nearly impossible, and there are almost always at least one or two fish feeding in the riffles.

When the water is clear like this, your chances of catching fish go down considerably if you let the fish see you first. One spooked fish or one hooked fish can shut down an entire pod of trout, and there are usually many more fish than you can see.

ive been out this past couple of days and im finding the trout to be in the weeds on the side of the banks. theres also so streams in my area that the dnr make a underbankment or something like that so the trout can hide and be protected. one of the best ways to catch those trout are just to float a worm down the streams.
