1984 CRESTLINER NORDIC

BigWadeS

Question

HELLO ALL,

I AM WONDERING WHO HAS OWNED A CRESTLINER NORDIC (1984) OR CURRENTLY OWNS ONE. MY QUESTION IS I AM TRYING TO FO THROUGH WIRE BY WIRE TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WORKS. I WAS TOLD IT HAS A BILGE PUMP BUT I CAN'T FIND THE ACCESS TO IT. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT IS/SHOULD BE IN THE TRANSOM OR DO I NEED TO REMOVE THE FLOOR TO GET TO IT? PLEASE HELP IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THIS.

THANK YOU

I don't know about the Nordic, but I had a boat with the bilge located by the transom, just under the floor.

The very back should should have a square area open all the way to the bottom. If you can, reach up under the deck in front of that hole and feel around. The bilge pump might be there? If not, I wouldn't have a clue.

Good luck

I had a 1988 Nordic 1850 and it was located beneath a rectangular carpeted hatch cover on the floor in front of the transom, if memory serves. I know it was a long reach, but it usually is.

I have a 1987 17' Nordic and mine is located just in front of the transom. There is a hatch type cover in the splash well on mine and the bilge pump is located under there on the floor. Most boats the bilge pump will be located there.

Try turning on the switch and see if it comes on, you should hear it whirr a bit and that may help you track it down. If it don't start check the fuses.

Thanks for the input, I truly appreciate it. I found out there was a problem when I flipped my switch and nothing happened and then the fuse was replace. Now I need to find it to check the wiring. I guess tonight I will be reaching and digging around for a bit.

Thanks again I appreciate it and hopefully I wont have to pull up the floor.

99% of the times if fuse blows is due to faulty or dirty pump, where it cannot spin and blows fuse.

I would suggest trying to get to it and check it out before you diagnose wiring. Most pumps have separate bodies, where the impeller (fan) can be exposed to free up "junk" stuck in it.

To expose pump there has to be a hatch (round or square) or some sort of panel/cover, but you shouldn't have to pull floor, since this is a common issue, accessibility is always available.
