I have owned a Garmin eTrex Legend for over two years and it is a fine unit. I bought the Fishing HotSpots CDROM and unlocked the 30ish MN lake maps. The maps are useful but not foolproof. On Kabatogama in the dark I was driving back to the resort and knew I was near a monster submerged boulder(it was on the GPS as a hazard). When my depthfinder alarm went off I killed the motor and seconds later coasted on top of a boulder the size of a garbage truck about 6 inches under the water. It was 167 feet off in location. My accuracy on the eTrex normally resolves to 6-7 feet so it was not an issue of GPS accuracy. No damage to my boat BTW.

New this summer to the market is the Lowrance iFinder h2o. It is light years ahead of the eTrex Legend. eTrex is 4 color mono and the h2o is 16 shades of grey. h2o uses MMC memory for maps and saves 100 trails vs 20 for the eTrex Legend.

iFinder is about $50 dollars more but well worth it I think. I have my Garmin up for sale on the bulletin board at work right now. After I sell it I will be buying the iFinder.
