Trailer wiring

nazcar

Question

I just wired my traile to my 92 ford explorer. All the turn signals and brake lights work until you turn the head lights on. When you trun the lights on the turn signals still work but nit as well. the truck turn signals work then the trailer lights work. But when you hit the brakes with the lights on the trailer brake lights do not work ,however the truck brake lights work does anyone have a idea why this is happening. I had to splice the wires together it is also a 4 wire flat. thanks Dale

Walmart sells a four flat light tester for about 3 bucks that will verify that the vehicle is wired correctly. That will give you a good start.

By the sounds of it your wiring is good but you may have a bad ground or white wire.

Does your Truck have amber color turn signals if yes you need a converter.

Last one I bought was at Walmart for around 10 bucks seen em as high as $35 for the same converter.

Next I would have to 2nd bad ground
