Its been tough everywhere.. throw in a good day once in a while, and skunks on other days. Catching 1-3 fish an evening is pretty much the norm lately.. not good in my books. No Flatheads have shown up yet, the weather has not been cooperative anywhere and the water is colder than it should be.

Keep fishing, keep trying.. its going to get better.

thanks for the reply and the heads up. i think i will just stick to the chippiwa for now maybe in a couple weeks head down to the minnesota as long as we don't get no more rain.good luck if you have been fishing, i think today i will look for some bullheads for bait but i think it's to cold for them to. have a good day and god bless.

I'm not sure why but I've been catching channels from microcat size up to 8 lbs off the Harriet Island dock. Roaming up and down the dock worked best. They seemed to only want night crawlers and had widely varying bite techniques; anywhere from tap-tap to yanking the rod out of my hands. For some reason, they and the occasional carp were the only things biting. And on unusually small hook sizes only; 2/0 was too big. I usually catch more sheep there than anything else but they've been pretty quiet. I did get a 25 inch walleye on a piece of nightcrawler after extracting my hook from a snag. Those things are strange

i've been useing big smelt that are rather dead smelling from being froze and thawed a dozen times.the cats just don't know what they want the water is to dirty and cold and full of food around here right now. my son managed to catch a 14lb northern yesterday boy was that hard to release, and on an rotten smelling smelt.i guess anything is possible when fishing cats.

I've caught a few on 1" chunks of sucker, both fresh and frozen. They've all been mid-day, in muddy water. Last time I was out, I sat for almost five hours, then had three within five minutes of each other. Biggest was 14#.

I hit the Minnesota today. I was out from noon until 6:30, and managed to catch five decent channels, from 5 to 8 pounds. The water's pretty high right now, which made it tough to get to any of my regular sitting spots. I made do, though.
