Southeast MN trout fishing??

Guest

Recommended Posts

I almost drove down today, but I'm oblivious to trout in that area. Anyone want to share some of their stories or information on fishing down there? I'll be down in mid-June on Lake Pepin and I read about Gilbert, Miller and Second Creeks. Do the trout cross the highway and into Lake Pepin or should I go upstream, or West? Thanks for anything helpful.

There are plenty of trout streams in the southeast, but you won't find too many trout in Lake Pepin aside from the very random catch that tends to make a lot of press.

Pick up the "Trout Fishing Opportunities in Southern Minnesota" book that is published by the DNR and check out what streams are designated trout streams in Goodhue, Wabasha, and Winona counties. You will find there are many coldwater trout streams in that area.

I appreciate your reply WXGuy. I have that booklet. I was looking for some reports or maybe specifics on those three creeks. I wouldn't try to catch trout on the lake, but maybe between the lake and highway, on those streams, without leaving the boat too far. I asked the wrong question. Has anyone had any luck this year on those three creeks, but near the lake? Thanks.
