Are two way radios legal?

WriteOutdoors, you stated the same as what i had posted earlier. When fishing you don't put the fish in the scope like hunting. Just because someone is on a school of fish or has a hot jig dosn't mean that the fish will bite. Hunting is totally different because the game dosn't have a choice. What difference does it make if i tell people i'm catching fish? It dosn't mean that they will catch them but it can increase there odds. I use my cell phone all the time when i go fishing with my Dad and Brothers to let them know how i'm doing. I don't see how radios could be illegal when using them for fishing.

What bothered me about "The Cell Phone Brigade" wasn't that they were using cellphones, it was that they were on small lakes that are trying to recover from a few years ago when they were hit so darn hard. Plus the fact that they were frying fish as they caught them. How do you enforce a daily limit there?

Myself I use 2-way radio's just to pass the time of day with my buddies shooting the breeze, or if we want to move. I guess peronally I don't care if someone shares info over the radio, it's what they do with that info that sometimes bothers me!

I'll clarify everything here for you guys.

Just got off the phone with a CO and basically it is legal to use two way radios for fishing. They see it all the time on big and small bodies of water. Basically it comes down to "the chase" of going after game. When deer, coyote, turkey, bear, what have you, when you are able to see it and "chase" it down then that is where it becomes illegal. With fish, you can't typically see the fish you are after.

So to answer the question: YES it is legal to use them in open water and ice fishing.

Plus with the two-way radios it is also a safety net to have in the boat.
