ANY LUCK WITH LED LANTERNS?

I was looking at some of these new LED lanterns. I am interested in one that Cabelas has that takes 8 C or D batteries. Does anyone have experience with the actual running time of these types of lanterns and how much light do they give off compared to the older dual bank propane lanterns?

I have not used LED but based on experience, anything that requires batteries tends to be a pain due to the fact that batteries are not dependable in cold weather. In the past I have used battery operated lights with little or no success.

I have a 12 LED lantern with a reostat that runs on four D cell batteries. It doesn't throw a lot of light like a gas lantern, but it has worked for a year of fishing, hunting ,etc. on the same set of batteries. It takes a beating in the back of my truck and works every time I pull it out and turn it on. The brand name is INNOVAGE Outdoor, and its made in China.A cheapo that does okay.
