setter tails

I got an english setter and the tip of his tail is a huge scab is there anything that you guys know of that i can do for him?

The same thing happens to my dogs, The best thing you can do is put some Neosporin on them after a day of hunting to try and eliminate infections. My dogs have bloody/scabby tails from October-January.

thanks do u wrap it up or anything or do u just let it bleed. The other thing I worry about is with the cold weather is the tail in danger of frostbite or anything like that?
