How to properly use the rattle on bucks

Recommended Posts

I have hunted many years and this will be the first time I've used the artificial rack (well, for hunting that is) to try and lure in a big buck. I know your supposed to try and simulate the same intensity that is currently happening amongst the bucks... if you guys have any opinions or experience you can share, please do so....

Buzz, Rattling is a great technique to use. keep these things in mind though. works best if they are more bucks in your area then does. not common at all in minnesota. works wonders when a buck comes cruising along and wont respond to a grunt or so ive noticed. plus they like to circle down wind. oh and one more thing. dont do this during gun season. too many (Contact US Regarding This Word) shoot at noises and movements. if they dont they like to sneak up and try and see the "deer".

If your buck to doe ratio is as poor as the majority of our state, dont bother taking the horns out, if your in an area where bucks have to fight for breeding by all means let the suckers ring, a friend of mine will rattle under his stand and then climb in, not a bad idea, but he's been busted by a few biggies

Good luck, bang them horns
