I was wondering if any of you guys hunt at Carlos Avery around Stacy? I went there with a friend of mine and shot 1 Drake mallard on Sat morning and saw a few flocks but 2 just out of range and that one lone mallard that flew over. Alot of Coots though, but had a great time. My friend said there is more than one carlos avery? I am not familiar with the area but was curious how you guys do or if you hunt it? Have a great week.

A couple of my friends and I are fairly regular to Carlos Avery around the Stacy area. We've had our good days out there, but this year, so far, hasn't been anything spectacular.

Didn't get out this weekend, but was out there on Sunday, the 23rd for the afternoon/evening hunt. Saw a group of 3 ringnecks get kicked up by some guys paddling out to set up for the evening (around 3:30pm) and after that, nothing until a little after 5pm. Just after 5, a flock of about 6-7 mallards landed way out in the middle of the slough and that's where they stayed. We called it quits at 6:03pm and just after we unloaded and cased our guns, we got buzzed by roughly a dozen teal, just out of nowhere.

It sometimes gets better once the northern birds start moving. We used to hunt the portions of the WMA near Wyoming and have done okay down there in the past, but have stopped going there back in '01 due to that spot's rapidly increasing popularity.
