Matt,

Havent done very well on salmon as of late here on the lake. As you know, from seeing your posts, fishing in the streams has been fairly good. I don't hit the streams that much so most of my reports are second hand on that subject.

But from what I hear, the Sioux and Pikes have been producing fish. I am sure we will start to see more and more coho coming around shortly.

You've been hearing right. I was over there this morning and saw a lot of fish...I think there was more on monday but really no where for those fish to go except out of the river. Saw mixed bags on monday too. Splake, King, Brookie, Steelie, Coho...lotta fish to be in 5 inches of water. I might be done after tmrw. I'll be on the lake. There's gotta be fish still out there. I've got more spawn than I can experiment with and it's hunting season. Might need a fork.

The Brule in Northern Wisconsin is a good place to fish a few different species. Depending on where you go it's all about timing. Since my last post the fishing has changed in that area. From what I've seen in most rivers, creeks, and streams the pinks are pretty much done and the kings are still running but slowing fast and the cohos have yet to peak. Steelhead and Browns are available in some places. The Brule would be one. I do most of my fishing in Wisconsin all along the south shore I don't really have much good news for the North shore in MN. Temperance and Baptism seem to be the hot spots for now just from what I hear.

attempted to fish the brule and a couple spots from ashland to bayfield and everything is flooded out, this may be be a rare opportunitty to catch a salmon or a steelhead in the woods somewhere grin.gif myself, i only managed one hookup in the chocolate milk which ended with a snap. I've been saying we need some rain for a while, but this is ridiculous.

I hear ya. I've been hoping for rain every day for the past weeks and it seems all those requests were answered at once. Hopefully everything settles down soon. I won't be out for a few days now for sure...maybe I'll have to play with my duck calls.

The Brule is really rocking right now. Grab a kayak and hit the ledges...its an absolute riot. And, I think that when things slow down, the numbers of fish are going to go way up! Good times!

    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
