Spicey Bratwurst Recipe?

I'm looking for a spicey bratwurst seasoning recipe. By spicey, I mean a bit more flavor full than the Johnsonville or HyVee meat counter brats. Not necessarily hot, but just more zip.

Also, what casings do you prefer, natural or synthetic?
