Iam planning on going muskie fishing for the first time Wednesday, and wondering if I would be better of trolling or casting? I talked to the boys at INN-TOWNNE marnia and they told me that bucktails are doing well or maybe topwater baits.Any info and help would be great.THANKS in advance.Iam going to Waconia.Planning on fishing by the beach and center reef. don't be afraid to do both!! i love to cast, but if that isn't working , or i want a brake. i will troll. with trolling you cover alot of water. if you raise a fish, keep that spot in mind and come back to it later. also you will find fish out in the open water where trolling is a great option. if trolling; try different depths. inside and outside turns. vary your speed. over pts., weeds , or break lines plus just the open water. as far as lures; buck tails,med/lg. cranks, spinnerbaits, or just about what ever you want try. as with any fishing; try different things to find what is working that day.
