quick ? about dropshotting bass

im new to bass fishing and i wanna try dropshotting 4 bass this weekend along deeper weedlines..can i use a lindy walking sinker 1/8 to 1/4 oz for my weight or will this not work?? all info is appreciated!! I will hang up and listen..lol

Absolutely. The main advantage drop-shot-specific sinkers have is the ability to change leader length with great ease. Also, if you get hung up (between rocks, for example), the drop-shot weights will pull off of your line, meaning that you only need to put another weight on to resume fishing. Personally, I like to use 5/16 ounce weights, but 1/4 is my second choice.

The sinker that is involved in drop-shotting is not that important. I was talking to Mark Davis once about this technique and he said "I could just as well tie a rock on the end of my line." The more important factors are bait used and length of the leader. Focus on fishing this bait vertical, and don't drag the sinker. Not a search bait by any means, but once you locate bass you'll have a blast plucking them one by one. Use a marker bouy to help you stay on the school.

Also try drop shotting with heavy line and creature-type baits in flippin and pitchin situations!

I fish the bait horizontal 90% of the time and have found it to very effective on bluebird days and real slow days if worked very slowly. I have fished in 1'-25' and got fish in all areas in between. It use cheap weights because they are easy to replace. I have also found that no hook set is needed just reel like on a circle hook. Seems when I set the hook I miss the fish most times and just reeling I hook up. Good luck it is a great way to fish!!
