Repair Questions ???? Outboard Motor

I will make a long story short... Borrowed my 93 15 HP Maranier to some one and they call me from the lake saying that when the go to start it the recoil sounds like it is grinding.. Not smooth at all ..Feels like it is in gear when trying to start it but the prop spins freely I used it Friday with no problems... Any one got a heads up for me on where to start tonight when I get home ? ...

Loaning stuff out you run the risk of someone that doesn't know any better doing damage to your stuff. Hopefully they mixed the gas with oil. If the impeller went and the operator didn't realize what was happening and kept running it, well you know what happens then. You won't know till you get it back and look. Pull the plugs out and turn the flywheel over to see if you still have the grinding or if its stiff.

The oil gas mixture was one and maybe a little heavy more oil... and he said it ran fine once it started
