how do u catch redhorse!?

i found a stream recently with redhorse stacked full in one of the pools, they seem to be spawning. my buddy and i tried to use worms but they wanted nothing of it, wats the secret, how do u catch these buggers?

I would try to avoid fishing for the swarms of redhorse you can see up on the fast gravel bars, because these fish generally don't take a bait very often. Look for deeper, slower holding water adjacent to these spawning areas, and fish with a half nightcrawler stationary on the bottom, with your rod(which should be of lighter action)in some kind of rod holder like a forked stick. This allows you to detect thier sometimes maddeningly light bites. Good luck! ~hogsucker
