MNBIGBEAR
Just wondering if anyone has any tips on fishing for cats around either Zim or Floodwood. I have never done it but would love to try. Thanks for any tips guys.
catmand0o0
I've had success at both places using liver. I jumped the gun and tried near Floodwood yesterday and just about froze myself to the boatseat. The water is still only 44 degrees. The St. Louis North of Floodwood is sort of a bathtub. The bottom structure doesn't vary much but you can find some holes if you can search from a boat. But if you are shore fishing Just cast out and wait. You won't wait long and the cats will find you! That's my 2 cents. Good Luck!
MNBIGBEAR
Thanks! I will give it a try. Do you find you have more luck during the day or night usually?
Fisher Dave
Night is usually better... I would shy away from Floodwood if you can. That stretch of river gets hit pretty hard by the locals(unless in a boat).. or locals in this case that like to party a little too much... The fishing pressure seems to drop considerably once the game warden stops in a few times. The mouth of the floodwood and savanah rivers can both be ok places to fish at times. The savana is usually better. There is a backroad that goes right by both mouths off 9th ave. If you have a truck you will make it back there.I would recommend heading down towards Brookston.. it seems to be a bit better there. The stony brook mouth can be a pretty decent place to fish, and theres also a couple holes down by where 2 goes over the river.. do some scouting and check it out, theres lots of spots down there.
