99ranger
Does anyone know if you can still drive a trailer with out the metal brake cable? After unhooking from the ball and pulling away from trailer cable caught the ball and hooked and then broke. The cable is on a ranger trailer.Any advice on what to would be great. Thanks
0 fish-n-geek
If you're talking about the break-away brake cable, you "can" operate without it only if your trailer weight is under 6,000 pounds.<quote>Brakes are required on all trailers with a gross weight of 3,000 pounds or more. ... Every trailer with a gross weight of more than 6,000 pounds shall be equipped with a breakaway brake device which willautomatically apply and hold the brakes should the trailer accidentally become detached from the towing unit.</quote>
