Drop shot rigs

Reel Don

Recommended Posts

I,ve had good luck using drop shot rigs when fishing for walleye that are holding tight to the bottom in deeper water. The problem with them is that if the fish is not lip hooked, the main line is right in the mouth along with a lot of sharp teeth. If a pike grabs it you can just about forget boating the fish. I've lost several very strong feeling fish this way. Normally I use 10 or 12 lb. fluorocarbon for a leader. Has anybody tried using straight fireline with good results? Any suggestions? confused.gif
