Guys,

I can tell you that the classic is probably the best large format tournament you can fish here in Minnesota. Larry Krohn and all of those guys put a lot of work into that tournament every year, and it is absolutely a ton of fun. If you haven't fished tournaments before, I guarantee you it will be a little intimidating to see that many boats (100+), and that many really good fisherman (and fisherwomen). But I can also tell you that it would be one of the coolest things that you've done as well. If you are a good stick, then I emplore you to come out and fish it, it's a fantastic day, and at that weigh in--you will get a first hand look at just how absolutely mind boggling Lake Minnetonka is as a Bass fishery. Give it a go guys!

I am signed up. Myself and a co-worked thought it would be a good chance to see how we stack up against some of the local pro's. How know's, we may get lucky and finish in the money.

Looks like we're gonna try t out and see how we place. I'm thinking 3lb average takes 1st. Since last year took mid 20lbs to win and '03 took low 30lbs, if we catch all 18"ers, we'll win. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

Good luck to all who's goin.

Yeaaaaaaah--good luck with that! Actually if you trace back further it usually takes around middle 30's to win, the last two years have kind of been a fluke. Probably due to the fact that the Denny's was fished the day before both years. But good luck to you either way. 30 pounds of fish should definitely put you in the money.

How'd you do?

I am personally flabbergasted--as you know they reduced the limit from 10 fish down to 8, and as it turns out, guys with roughly 3 lb averages made checks. The top three spots were at around 3.5 lbs average, but fishing was tough.

The 8 fish limit made it that much harder to place in the money because it you know alot of teams will be weighing in pretty tight. The rain didn't help much either. Our drawn number was 107 and we weighed in 19.26lbs. Every spot we planned to fish had been fished, which was even more of a challenge.

It was more fun than I thought though. The amount of fish brought in was amazing. What a great fishery. Never seen so many bassboats in a given area. It was a great experience so we will be back again next year for a shot.

we went out # 102

That was a good time--I absolutely love that lake when it's raining--something magical happens to the fish when the rain is falling and the boat pressure isn't there. We weighed in 21.40 which was good enough to make a check in 18th place. We lost 4 big fish that would have put us somewhere around 25-26 lbs had we caught them, but hey--two years fished--two years made the money--I'm liking it!

I didn't fish the tourney, just wondering the weights. what a great fishery though! I am definatley gonna have to get out there some this summer. I have an aunt and uncle who live out there, and it looks like Im not out there enough! Will definatley try it from a boat (only fished there from shoer and done alright for bass). Nice job on 18th too.

Where the bass still spawning or just entering post-spawn? or sumthing else lol, just wondering what stage they were in. thanks

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
