Minnetonka Crappies

Kestrel,

You may want to post this in the "metro area lakes and rivers" section...you'll get alot more hits. I'm pretty new at fishing Tonka, so I'm sure others will chime in with better advice. Last year I had good luck with a black/chartreuse tube jig under a float, but you could probably do equally well with a flu-flu. Popular areas to try are Black lake, Setons, Emerald, North Arm, Maxwell, Stubbs, Tanagers lake, Phelps...so many good spots on Tonka it's hard to nail one down. But just pick one bay and work it over. Look for the crappies to be shallow. Cover lots of water to locate an active school by popping the tube jig/bobber combo a few times, or, use some other presentation that covers alot of water to locate that active school. cool.gifHave fun..there's a ton of big fish in Tonka! There is a crappie fishing contest on the 23rd. Do you plan on fishing that?
