Correct size Minn Kota for my pro v

Hi all,

I have a 1700 pro v and want to put a transom mount Minn Kota on it. The boat is used for backtrolling walleyes on lakes and rivers. I used to have a Minn Kota 3hp, but it was junk as far as I'm concerned. I'm leaning towards the Vector 70 or 74 series with the 3x steering. Anyone have experience in what pound thrust is appropriate. Is the 3x steering worth the extra $$.

Get the biggest you can afford! I have a 24V 74# maxum on my 1800 pro-v tiller and it handles the boat real nice in current and white-caps. The new vectors look like pretty nice units.

Thanks for the advise. If it'll handle your 18 it should handle my 17 just fine.
