tonyjor
Weagles have been talked about a lot lately. Are they the hot new lure this year? Do they actually work or is it all hype because they are hand-made? I'm just getting into muskie fishing and I'm willing to try new lures. Are these worth the price? I was also at Scheels in St. Cloud the other day and I saw a lure that looks like a big segmented wooden tadpole. I think it was called a Hellhound. It caught MY eye, but do they catch fish? Thanks for the input. Also, what colors should I be looking for in these types of lures, being that they do work?
RuKiddingMe
Like all other lures, the Weagle is just another tool in the old tackle box, but the hype is about how it adds a whole new demension to the Walk-the-dog top water bait. They are more round and alot heavier then your typical jackpot type lure and they have more of a swoosh than the typical popping sound. They also ride lower in the water almost like a viper by phantom lures. It had been said many times that the weagle isn't easy to use and will take a while to learn, for best results they say to use a solid leader and a rod atleast 7'6". Are they worth the money? Sure they are hand made and really not that much more then other baits. Try one out, might be tough to get your hands on right now, but they say their will be plenty around before the opener.RU
dsludge
I saw a few hanging on the rack at the Thorne Bros. booth yesterday at the Muskie Expo. Plenty of hype, plenty of use, plenty of fish caught. Looks like the recipe for success.dsludge
