Devils Lake Report 3/9/05

Returned Wednesday the 9 of March, from Devils lake. I had my doughts about going after the reports I had seen. Two of us fished 2 and 1/2 days catching 51 perch 9 walleyes and 1 nice white bass. 30-35 feet of water seemed to be the best depth. Small spoons like the forage minnow and the frosty jig with a treble hook and a small piece of minnow worked good. so did a plain #8 hook with a small minnow and a bobber. Also keep on the move if the fish stopped biting try a new area. The perch were between 9" and 12". This was my first trip to the lake and I know I will be back. We stayed at Lakeview lodge very nice place. The owners are very helpfulin pionting you in the right direction.

Glad to hear you had a good time and caught some fish. I've really struggled the couple times I've been out to DL. The weather has never been in my favor either. Kind of hard to run & gun when it is 17 below with a 20 mph wind.
