Central Wisconsin Catfish ???

This will be my first summer back in Wisconsin. I've been living in MN for the last few years and got an itch for catfish. We hit the Wisconsin River (around Wausau/Mosinee) here for walleyes pretty much year round, but I'm not sure where to look for cats. Any locations to try out that aren't too many hours away ??

Hi fish-n-geek, use to live in mosinee and had luck with channels at chucks boatlaunch in town. Beans eddy boat launch is a good bet. Didnt have much luck on dam road launch for cats, usually smallies and walleyes there. We mainly fished from shore w/crawlers or minnows.

I almost forgot I posted this question :-)

I'll try to get out of one of those two launches and play around for a while. I did pick up one channel this spring while I was trolling for eyes above the flowage, probably half way to the power plant. Would be fun to get them on purpose

If you got a weekend to burn Wissota is worth a try. Not lots of fish, but some dandies. Say 2-3 fish from sunset till midnight for two guys is typical, ave. of 12lbs whether channels or flatheads. Can give you more info if interested.

fish-n-geek just got my transfer papers back to mosinee, should be pulling into town the end of july, we'll have to hook up when i get to town. Love to hit the mosinee dam for smallies and walleyes.
