hey. i did a search, and located the article for ya. i was off on some details: it was olive oil, not tofu. and it was microwaved. maybe putting it in boiling water would be different. anyways, check out the article. pretty interesting.

i'm with you on the tofu. my ex was a vegetarian. i got plenty of it on my plate, and my dog got plenty of it under the table.

Thanks for the reply and the info. It looks like the tests were done in a microwave, sounds like the extreme heet is a facture. Anyway it is good to have the information and I will be looking into this a little more.

It's really strange that the FDA hasn't checcked on this as many microwave instructions call for plastic wrap or containers.I sure hate to lose my egg recipe but I may have to give it up if I find out that any heet can create this problem.

Again thank you, and not only for the egg cookers but for anyone who owns a microwave, good information from a decent source.

Urban Legend. The problems with cooking in/with plastic aren't really worth worrying about. A quick google search points us to snopes, truthorfiction, and many many articles on the topic. In short, cooking food in plastic is no more a health risk than frying in oil.
