Battery Question

How do you decifer the code on a battery to tell the manufacture date?

For example, what does K3 mean?

I used to know but forgot the code. Want to get the freshest of the bunch.

It is manufacture date. A thru L indicate month and the number the year. K3 would equate to November of 2003 or maybe 1993 depending on whether you saw this on an old or a new battery.

Thank you. That is what I suspected but I thought it a little strange to have a Nov. 2003 battery on the shelf on November 4. The clerk did say they just got them in but I wanted to double check. Nice to know I have a fresh battery.
