M_komo
02/09/05 Blackwell....FUN with pics. Been hearing a lot of buzz about blackwell so figured it was worth a shot. Started in the south bay (1st parking lot). Ice looked good, but was a bit sloppy. Figured it was 6 inches or so. Lots of holes had that "vein" look with dark ice looking like a star. Seemed ok, but nevertheless kept my distance. First, checked for feesh in all the open holes with a vex. Wasnt to hard to get them going, though very finicky. Mainly a black, horizontal with one spike did the trick. Lots of lookers, with the occasional taker. Best presentation was a slow drop. Then jig when there were all around. Then lowered again. By that time the aggressive fish would hit. A couple of feesh per hole was the ticket, then move. Got a bunch of gills, lots of dinks and a walleye. Mainly 10 to 14 FOW. I think the blue is in a 6 inch hole. Finally, swimmed away, but waited for me to take a picture. http://www.illinoiswaters.net/photos/small/8474/img]
