jig-em
I've got a used 3 hp Jiffy Auger and it's a hard one to keep running. I've changed gas and been tinkering with the carb a 1.5 turns. Any suggestions?jig em
0 RoadRunner
Bring it in to a repair shop and have them tune it up and adjust it for you. The 25 or 30 bucks it'll cost you will pay for itself many times over in saved frustration. I tinkered with mine for 3 years after I bought it (new) trying to get it to run the way I thought it should. I finally brought it in to the pro's and it's the best thing I ever did. 0 wisconsinfish
I had similar problems with my jiffy 3hp. I had something plugging the carb. What we did was tighten down the idle adjustment screws on the carb they should have little plastic caps on them.( just snug,do not overtighten), write down how many turns it takes for each, think mine was 1-1/4 and 3/4 or something. Then take them out and wipe them off. We sprayed brake cleaner in where the screws were and let it drain and dry out. Put the screws back in so they are snug'd up and back them out the number of turns you wrote down. Mine has run fine ever since. Another tip is to never store your auger laying down for the off season. Always stand it up and add stabil to the gas, or drain it out.Hope this helps.J.T. 0 DRH1175
DO Not just add stabil. Run every ounce of Gas out each year and use Fresh Gas in them ALWAYS. That is the absoulute most important thing about these engines. 99% of the running issues have to do with Old stale gas. Stabil may help gas last a little longer during the season. But really stabil only keeps the small engine guys a float. Run the gas out and use fresh at the start of every season and many of your problems will disapear!
