fast40m
There are a few lakes near my home that no one fishes in the winter. I see a few people fish it in the summer. Should I try it? I have never seen a house on either of the lakes in 20 years. What do ya think?
upnorth
Go to the DNR Lake Finder page http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind/index.html and see if you can find it in there and check to see what if any numbers of fish reside there. Good numbers of something you wanna catch, I say go for it, crummy numbers I would pass it up.
stellarfisher
I had an instance like this about 4 years ago. I found a lake that was smaller than 10 acres. Didnt even know if there was fish in it. When I finally decided to try it out it was the best fishing that I have ever had. One day last summer I caught 4 Largemouth over 21 inches. And 2 Northerns over 32. All in 4 hours using sucker minnows. I say no matter what it is worth a try!
Maximum12
I'll second stellar. Personally, I love finding these little underpressured gems, which are becoming harder & harder to find. There are a lot of little lakes around (some in the DNR database, some not) that have quality fishing to be had. Look at it this way, if you go & it's a bust, you've wasted a couple of hours, if you hit the jackpot, you might have years of good fishing (right up until someone else sees you out there & the village descends!).
