new regs in Itasca Co. area?

I am a newbie and hope this does not hurt! I am coming up to my cabin in Itasca county around the 20th of Dec. and the last I heard the DNR had proposed reducing walleye limits as well as a slot for a number of lakes in the area as well as reduced panfish limits, has anyone got the latest information? Also, I expect the lake ice to be thick enough for an old northlander and his 4 whlr, am I ok?? Thanks ahead of time. Hey that didn't hurt much!

I live in Itasca county and the new regs for walleyes are not in effect until the summer opener so your ok. Crappies are 10 just like state wide. There is plenty of ice now for wheelers on the smaller lakes. What lake is your cabin on?

Westranger1, cabin is on Jessie. Thanks for the info! My recent association newsletter indicated some doubt about the new regs going into effect for our lake but if neighboring lakes are going to have them ours should too, I guess. smile.gif

Jessie, Bowstring, and Sand do not have any of the new regs. I'm a little dissapointed, doesn't effect my way of doing things, I've got my own personal slot limit. But I just think it will lead to a downturn in the walleye population on Jessie, where do you think the meat hunters are going to go now that a bunch of other lakes in the area have the new slot limits?? I sure hope people took that into consideration when they voiced there opinion against the proposed slots. I doubt it though, probably be the same ones that complain about the lack of walleyes in a few years.

Welcome to FM jessie1

Jessie has about 10" on the south end and about 4 to 6 every where else. We had 10 below last night so it is problably more already.

Look for me when you are up I own the resort on the south end of the lake and am usually out there.

Good luck!
