Is it legal in Illinois to run 4 wheelers or snowmobiles on the ice?

They run snowmobiles and 4 wheelers all the time at the chain in Antiock.

While I was getting my boat inspected by the DNR officer at the launching ramp this past weekend, I took the opportunity to ask him about this. He said it is legal. You need to stay 100 feet from shore and ice houses, or go slow. Kind of the equivalent of the no wake within 100 ft of shore that they have during the summer.
