muskie hunter
When you get one of these will you still be able to tell the water temp?
Matt Johnson
No, you will still need an external temp probe in order to gather a temp reading with these. There are no in-hull transducers that allow for an accurate temp reading. All manufacturers recommend an external temp probe... You can buy a temp probe/readout for like $20 though... easy to install...
muskie hunter
Do you have to drill holes in the boat to install a external temp probe?
Matt Johnson
No, you can oftentimes use existing holes and just pull a screw out and place it right back where it was. The probes are fairly small. I've installed several without having to drill additional holes into the boat. You can also zip-tie them to your trolling motor if you want to as well, just make sure there is no slack cord
leech~~
You maybe able to drill the probe into the live well hose close to the back of the boat which always has fresh water in it to get the water temp.
