556LaGue
I hit the ice yesterday with one of my normal fishing buddies and we had a great afternoon!! We ended up on a local lake that we have got to know pretty good these past few years. Things started out a little slow with a few smaller crappies ( 10-12 inchers) and some smaller ( but always fun) large mouth in the mix. After a few minor adjustments to our tactics and some hole jumping we started reeling in the slabs! We figured out they weren't after the same presentation as the weekend before we both switched to a tungsten jig n tipped it with a pink gulp fish fry(vs a spoon loaded w waxies),which seemed to be the ticket! The majority of the crappies were in that 13-14 inch mark and the large mouth were absolutely smoking those jigs w the gulp! My buddy got a slab that was just over 15 inches!! I had my go pro hero 2 on my head and got some video that isn't great (still getting used to filming w that thing) but got a few pictures i am going to share with you guys as soon as i figure out how to post them on here! Staying light and mobile. Drilling lots of holes and not being afraid of experimenting made all the difference yesterday. Oh and of course we couldn't have did it without our electronics!!! THANKS AGAIN MARCUM!!!
Midwestmagic
Sounds like the conditions are one to remember.. Having better luck on the waxxies or the gulp? What water you think about hitting this weekend? Good Luck and make sure you call short bus Doug for some good insight on the local tactics... Cheers!
