Jason Mitchell recently filmed two ice fishing episodes for his television show, Jason Mitchell Outdoors in the Glacial Lakes region of northeastern South Dakota recently. Mitchell filmed a jumbo perch segment with Cory Ewing of Waubay Lake Guide Service on Waubay Lake and Swan Lake.

Mitchell and Ewing caught numbers of perch on Waubay using Northland Tackle Buckshot Rattle Spoons tipped with spikes. The anglers targeted bigger perch on Swan Lake using tungsten jigs tipped with an Impulse Stone Fly. The anglers fished off of snowmobiles and drilled many holes and moved a lot to stay on fish.

"This corner of South Dakota offers some tremendous winter perch fishing. "At the motel in Webster where we stayed, we met folks from different parts of South Dakota along with North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska and most of the anglers had traveled for the great perch fishing," explained Mitchell. "What I love about this area is just the sheer volume of great fishing lakes. You can hit a different lake every day and really explore, if you want to you can get away from people and really experience some incredible ice fishing," adds Mitchell.

Mitchell took over the television production of the late Tony Dean over five years ago. Upcoming segments will air in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana and Illinois. Jason Mitchell Outdoors has been one of the highest rated fishing shows on Fox Sports North and reaches over twelve million households each week. The show currently airs on Fox Sports North on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am and Fox Sports Midwest on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am.
