Obe, I have used all of the Marcum products. This is a good hand held search tool but the battery is pricy and does not last. My opionion would be to throw in a few more bucks on a reconditioned Vexilar fl-8. A stripped down version will shoot through clear ice and give you the same info. But, when you sit down you can use it to watch fish reaction and get a clearer picture of what is happening below you for around the same money and 10x the battery life. As I said it is a good tool so you just need to anser does it address all of YOUR needs?
