Matt Johnson
The issue recently is that some Lake Master chips are not working in all the works, or are not compatible. What Lake Master chip do you currently have? Which year/model? As far as hand helds go, I've actually turned to my summer units instead. The recent hand helds have not appealed to me... I've been using my HDS-7 rigged on a Genz Blue Box instead... or mounted to the dash of my truck I do own the Lowrance Endura Sierra though and it works just fine, but still tough to beat the larger screen if available... even the newer Elite 4 and 5 units are nice too... Charlie Mason
Matt's exactly right and with the purchase of LM by Humminbird its more difficult. I run the HDS-5m on the quad and luckily got one of the last chips from LM that works in 2009
Fishin4fun_MN
If you have an Android or iPhone, just download the Navionics app I think it is like $10 for the US and like $14 or so for US and Canada for Android. Not sure for iPhone.
walleye34
+1 on the smartphone either a Iphone or Android. No need for a handheld GPS anymore with these. I just bought a Iphone and just got back from a SD birds hunt where I downloaded all the public land maps free to my Iphone and last night I downloaded the navionics app and I was amazed!! no need to take my big fishing GPS and put it on my dashboard of my truck this year. It is the same thing. I can save waypoints, trails. The maps are the same. I dont why it was only $10 and I paid $120 for my chip that goes into my big unit?? It's awsome!
